Pay-to-rank glossary
Every term used on adultbid and on pay-to-rank boards generally, in plain words. The rules
behind them are on the Rules page; the mechanics are explained in
how outbid.lol works.
Ranks and boards
- Pay to rank
- A public leaderboard where positions are bought: the site that has paid the most is first, and the only way up is to pay more than the site above you. outbid.lol made the format famous in 2026; adultbid runs it for the adult industry.
- Total
- Everything a listing has ever paid, in US dollars. The total is the whole ranking and never goes down.
- Rank
- A listing's position on a board, sorted by total, highest first. Equal totals keep the order they were placed in.
- All-time board
- The main leaderboard, ranked by total. Nothing on it expires.
- Today board
- A rolling 24-hour ranking by what each listing paid in the last day. Payments drop off exactly a day after they clear.
- Daily archive
- One frozen page per calendar day, UTC, recording who paid what. Past days cannot be edited.
- Category board
- The leaderboard of one category, from cams to casino, with its own #1 and its own, lower price for it.
Money
- Bid
- A payment added to a listing's total. It settles the moment the card payment clears and moves the rank at once.
- Target total
- What a bidder asks for: the total the listing should stand at. New listings pay the whole amount; existing ones pay the difference.
- Difference
- The gap between a listing's current total and its new one. Raising a rank costs the difference, never the whole amount again.
- Take-#1 premium
- Taking the top spot costs one dollar more than the current leader's total, so nobody slips past for less.
- Outrank
- To hold a higher total than another listing. Each listing page states the exact amount that outranks it right now.
- Refund on refusal
- The one refund on adultbid: a listing refused at review is removed and its payment returned in full. Being outranked is never refunded.
Links and pages
- Dofollow link
- A plain HTML link that search engines follow and count towards the destination. Every adultbid listing is one, straight to the site that paid for it.
- Listing page
- The page adultbid keeps for each listing: a description written from the site's own pages, its ranks, what it paid, what passes it, its history and its neighbours.
- Title and description
- Read from the listed site's own page and shown on the board as the site wrote them. Change them on your site and they update here.
- Click
- A visit that left the board through a listing's link, counted as it happens and shown beside the listing.
Moderation and trust
- Review
- A person looks at every listing, usually within 24 hours of payment. Refused listings are refunded; illegal ones are removed and, where the law requires it, reported.
- Ledger
- The record of every settled payment. Every figure on adultbid, from the board totals to the About page, is a sum over it.
- Report
- A message to the address in the Rules about a listing that should not be there. Legitimate reports are acted on within hours.
- Operator figures
- Traffic numbers belonging to the company behind adultbid, shown on the About page and labelled as such; they are never mixed with the board's own figures.
Questions
- Is pay-to-rank the same as sponsored placement?
- No. Sponsored placement is sold by a seller at a price they set. On a pay-to-rank board the price is set by the other bidders and every amount is public.
- Where does the vocabulary come from?
- From the boards themselves. outbid.lol popularised the format; adultbid uses the same words with a few of its own, such as the Today board and the take-#1 premium.
- Is there a minimum bid?
- Five dollars on adultbid, in whole dollars.
